Laser Tattoo Removal

First of all, all our tattoo removal is carried out by Kayleigh who is the company CEO, she has undergone a lot of training and has extensive knowledge when it comes to laser treatment. Kayleigh has now trained six times since her initial training in Canada, she keeps her knowledge up to date and ensures her clients are happy.

Kayleigh uses our Quanta Q Plus C Evo, which is quite simply one of the best machines available today. We highly recommend you do your research on our machine to realise the high quality compared to other machines. Good results with tattoo removal have to be accompanied by an expert, and a gold standard machine. The Quanta has 3 wavelengths which enables safe treatment for dark pigments, cool pigments, and warmer pigments. Most machines struggle with many colours. We urge anyone looking to undergo any laser treatment to do a lot of research because in the wrong hands you can end up scarred, and unfortunately we are seeing it over and over again under the wrong hands.

So, how does this tattoo removal work?

The light from the laser targets ink and pigmentation and it is then metabolised and disposed away by your own body and your immune system. You can get amazing results at Cornwall Laser Specialists with the Quanta machine and treatment with Kayleigh with years of experience and many very happy clients who have experienced the fantastic results offered in clinic.

Providing treatment at our clinic in Truro, we treat individuals from across Cornwall.

The number of laser tattoo removal sessions you will need will vary on colour and density and the location on the body. Before any treatment begins, you will need a consultation at the Truro clinic, during which we will ascertain how we will proceed with your tattoo removal or tattoo fading journey. I will also conduct a patch test for suitability.

Treatment with the laser varies from client to client depending on the age, size, and type of tattoo (amateur or professional). The clients skin type, as well as the depth to which the tattoo pigment extends, will also affect the removal technique.

Prices start from £60 and are based on quotation based on size, colour of ink and amount of shading.

PERMANENT MAKE UP REMOVAL - Quanta Q Plus C Laser

If you've had semi permanent make up before, but ended up with results you're unhappy with, we can help because we have an extensive advanced Q-switched laser system designed to perform desired results.

On average it can take between 2-5 sessions to fade and between 4-6 sessions to remove SPMU brows completely depending on ink, colour, and density (line work is easier to remove than heavy shading). It is important to note that eyebrow tattoos can oxidise which will mean underlying pigments can be left after the laser treatment such as orange and red and this will be fully discussed during your consultation.

FAQs

Your consultation:

During your consultation we will discuss your medical history and your Laser Specialist will make sure treatment is right for you. After your consultation and any questions you have are answered you will be given a small test patch, you must then wait 1 week to ensure you are suitable for the treatment. Consultations cost £15 and treatment starts at £60 and range up to £155 per session.

How long does the treatment take?

Treatment duration depends on the size of the tattoo being treated. Treatment can be as short as a few minutes right up to 45 minutes. The cut off time for one session at The Laser Room Truro is 45 minutes due to your skin having to rest, larger areas can be split up to make the treatment more comfortable. Please note large areas such as a full arm sleeve will be split in to at least 2 sessions and each large session costs £155.

What to expect?

The treatment itself is a series of laser pulses that are fired rapidly next to each other in a pattern along the tattoo. The skin will frost which means it will turn white in colour, this is a normal reaction and the frosting will go in within 40 minutes. You can expect any of the following post treatment reactions:

Swelling, blood spots, bruising, redness, blistering, and scabbing - it is important to keep the area clean and treat it like a wound. Ointments can be used such as bepanthen. Blistering is a normal and common healing process.

All clients are thoroughly ran through the healing process and instructed on how to look after the treatment area, this is important and you must follow the instructions and always contact the clinic immediately if you think something is wrong.

Treatment can have a minimum of 6 week intervals.

Is tattoo removal painful?

Laser tattoo removal can be very uncomfortable and delivers a heat reaction to the layers in your dermis - I generally recommend my clients use numbing cream which should be purchased before the day of your treatment and you will need to keep the numbing cream on for as long as instructed and do not take it off before your treatment as it will stop working.

  • Many clients develop blisters, crusts, or scabs within 8-72 hours, which may last for 7 - 14 days or more in some cases and this is completely normal. Some clients may experience bruising or swelling for up to 7 days after their session.

  •  The treated areas may be pink or pale after the scab separates and it is important to leave the area to clear up by itself with no picking.

  • You must be honest about your UV exposure - Any recent tanning can impact the treatment results - this can mean the area loosing pigment and the treatment site ending up white due to the laser breaking up your melanin.

  • Clean the area gently with water and then pat the area dry - never rub the treatment site whilst it is still healing.

  •  You may apply a thin coating of bepanthen (nappy rash cream) or aloe vera up to three times a day for 3 days while the area is healing and you should keep the area covered with a sterile dressing for those 3 days if you are going anywhere with dust or sand.

  • Blistering is common and is likely to occur 8 hours after your treatment. Do not be alarmed, blisters heal very well and are part of the normal healing process. They indicate your immune system is healing the area and beginning to remove the ink from your tattoo.

  •  It is natural for blisters to pop, and this helps the skin to heal faster in many cases. Continue to put antibiotic ointment over the blisters once they have popped for at least 24 hours.

  •  Do not pick at the scab or allow the skin to become scraped, as this may result in infection and excessive bleeding and resulting in scarring in the treatment area.

  • Scarring, which can be hypertrophic or even keloid, can occur but is very rare. Loss of skin pigment in the treated area can occur, and is temporary except in very rare cases. Scarring caused before the laser treatment can not be removed and it is important to understand once the ink has been removed you may notice the pre treatment scarring more due to the tattoo no longer hiding it.

  •  Healing is usually complete within 4 weeks, although this may vary. Keep the treated area clean and dry while it is healing and sessions are spaced out with a minimum of 6 weeks.

Aftercare

  • Shaving should be avoided in the treated area until it is completely healed.

  • Feel free to shower 2 hours after the treatment, but take care to avoid high pressure water hitting the treated area. Baths, hot tubs, swimming pool, or any form of soaking are not recommended until all blistering and scabbing are completely healed (around 14 days), as they may increase the risk of infection.

  • Exercise is generally safe after treatment, taking into account the other after care instructions provided here.

  • Wear a sun block with an SPF of 50 or higher over the area for 3 months following the treatment. Do not wear makeup or any cream or medication on or near the treated area unless recommended for 48 hours.

  • Try to wear loose clothing to minimise rubbing or irritation to the area.

  • You may apply cool compresses as necessary for 24 hours after the laser treatment to help reduce discomfort and inflammation - never put ice straight on to your skin.

  • You may take painkillers, but avoid aspirin (it can increase the risk of bruising and/or bleeding.)

  • Itching is very common due to the dehydrating effect of the laser treatment and skin cell renewal and you must not scratch the area.

Our equipment

We offer laser tattoo removal with Quanta Q-Plus EVO. No other series of lasers removes more colours of tattoo.

When using the active Q-switch of the Quanta Q-Plus EVO series, very short pulses (6ns for Nd:YAG 1064/532nm and 30ns for Ruby laser 694nm) are delivered with very high peak powers.

This combination of energy delivery to the tissue enables a highly efficient photo-acoustic effect, of either the pigmented lesion or the tattoo. This short-pulse, high-energy output also reduces the thermal interaction of the tissue. The bigger the thermal interaction, the more loss of energy making the treatment less efficient and potentially causing more damage to the skin. The unwanted tattoo or pigments that have been hit by the high-energy pulse are fragmented and then removed by the body’s own natural defence mechanism, a process called phagocytosis.

The optipulse mode of the Quanta Q-Plus EVO series increases the energy of the emission by 50% and in doing so reduces the optical pick power by 20%. This is used to reduce the transitory post-treatment purpura and risk of hyper-pigmentation, using the 532nm laser.
